The stakes-packed Sunday card at Fair Grounds is the focus of two tournaments on TwinSpires.com.
The $40 Fair Grounds Challenge awards cash prizes, while the $200 Fair Grounds Feeder to 4/4 Blue Grass KDBC Qualifier hands out seats for the April 4 $1,000 Blue Grass KDBC Qualifier tournament, assuming enough players participate.
Both Sunday tournaments require betting your entire bankroll ($30 in the Challenge, $100 in the Feeder) across at least five races at Fair Grounds. In the Feeder, you must bet at least $10 in a given race for it to count toward the five-race minimum.
The first of four stakes on the card is Race 7, the Crescent City Derby for Louisiana-bred sophomores racing 1 1/16 miles on dirt. #5 Our Moneyman (6-5) owns a bevy of sharp Brisnet Speed ratings, has cracked the exacta in a trio of sprint stakes, and boasts the pedigree to handle 1 1/16 miles. We suggest tournament bettors single Our Moneyman to kick off a cold daily double.
- Race 7 wager: $10 Double: 5 with 2

The second leg of the double is Race 8, the Shantel Lanerie Memorial S. for Louisiana-bred fillies and mares racing one mile and 70 yards over the main track. #2 Margie’s Intention (7-5) is our top choice. Even though she lost to #1 Blue Fire (9-5) twice at Fair Grounds last year, Margie’s Intention has improved since then, winning the Black-Eyed Susan (G2) and recording top-three finishes in the Delaware Oaks (G3), Alabama (G1), and Beldame (G2).
We suggest singling Margie’s Intention in the second half of our double from Race 7 and keying her over Blue Fire in an exacta.
- Race 8 wager: $10 Exacta: 2 with 1
The last bet we’ll recommend comes in Race 11, the Ova Charged S. for Louisiana-bred fillies and mares dashing 5 1/2 furlongs on turf. #5 Synthetic (7-5) is unbeaten in four starts on dirt, but can she be trusted to continue her winning ways on turf? It’s not a given.
#2 Six String (9-2) may have upset potential. She’s 3-for-4 on turf and recently won a $35,000 allowance optional claimer for Louisiana-breds over this course and distance. She’s the logical alternative to Synthetic, so if her 9-2 morning-line odds hold up, we believe Six String is worthy of a win bet.
- Race 11 wager: $10 to win on #2 Six String
Good luck!
