Presque Isle Downs Selections and Analysis for Tuesday, June 10, 2025

June 9th, 2025

Dick Powell offers his insights and selections for Presque Isle Downs on Tuesday.

Race 1

1st: (1) IRISH VICTORY – horse for the course finished up last year with two straight wins and four of her last five starts. Off for 239 days, she returns without being exposed to the claim for Aldana Spieth, who wins 13% off a long rest.

2nd: (2) LA TOURISTA – only missed a length last out in her PID debut here after being shuffled back from post one. She meets the same class and distance for Gerry Brooks, who uses Willie Martinez again.

Race 2

1st: (7) RICHESINTHEHOUSE – showed high speed for a fast half-mile in his first start in almost eight months as the 11-10 favorite. Horse for the course can stalk the pace from the outside with Antonio Gallardo back aboard.

2nd: (2) SUMMERFEST – ran well here last year against better going longer, and has two dirt starts at Thistledown to get ready for this. Horse for the course draws towards the inside with Huber Villa-Gomez. Johanna Urieta wins 33% with this dropdown.

3rd: (6) UNSOCIABLE – one-dimensional closer should get the right setup for Angel Stanley.

Race 3

1st: (5) MR. COLOSSAL – still a maiden after six starts and has shown some ability on all three surfaces. He made his Tapeta debut last out here going a two-turn mile for Adam Rice, who wins 31% first start after being beaten as the favorite.

2nd: (6) THE FED’S PLOT – was overmatched in his first three career starts on the turf in Kentucky. He has the benefit of a recent for Kelsey Danner, who wins 19% second start with Lasix and 13% second start off the layoff.

3rd: (1) MAXIMUM FAITH – showed good speed in his well-bet career debut going two turns here last October.

Race 4

1st: (1) NELIDA – missed by a length two starts back on the turf at Tampa Bay against cheaper than was a more even third there last out. She draws the rail going a two-turn mile in her PID debut for Aldana Spieth, who wins 22% with this surface switch.

2nd: (6) MS SEDONA – one-dimensional closer won her second start on Tapeta at Turfway Park. Daughter of Justify is exposed for $25K here for new trainer Adam Rice, who wins 2 of 10 first start out of his barn and rides Israel Rodriguez.

3rd: (5) AIN’T NO LADY – raced evenly going seven furlongs on the Tapeta at Woodbine against this claiming level.

Race 5

1st: (4) RIGHT NOW – rallied from way back to win going away at six furlongs at Turfway Park then came here and romped going two turns against similar company. Lance Stokes wins 27% first start after a win, and Gallardo rides back.

2nd: (3) ALCOHOL – has run well on all three racing surfaces. Daughter of Vino Rosso showed good speed two starts back, going long on the turf, then shipped here and rallied for second behind the top choice.

3rd: (6) SHE’S FIRE – drops down in class off some poor starts but has plenty of back class.

Race 6

1st: (9) MRS. MANICOTTI – does her best running when she shows speed away from the gate. She did nothing two starts back when Lasix was added, but just missed here three months later when she was used hard from an inside post.

2nd: (8) WHEREVER WE ARE – was soundly beaten in her career debut on the dirt at Keeneland, then came here and was a distant second as the 19-10 favorite when Lasix was added. Adam Rice wins 14% second start off the layoff.

3rd: (1) BUCCHINI – raced evenly in her first two career starts at Gulfstream Park, then woke up there last out in a wide trip.

Race 7

1st: (3) PEMAQUID PETE – horse for the course has won 14 times here and prepped for this with a good race going seven furlongs on the turf at Mountaineer Park. He won second off the layoff here last year going this distance.

2nd: (4) SLIM SlOW SLIDER – raced evenly here off the layoff going a two-turn mile in very fast time while making his PID debut. He shows good speed when he’s on his game, so expect Gallardo to send him from the gate.

3rd: (1) PRAIRIE HAWK – son of Curlin makes his Tapeta debut but draws the rail and has plenty of back class.

Race 8

1st: (6) RANSOM MONEY – his turf debut was a disaster at Tampa Bay to begin the year, but shipped here and raced evenly against better. Teresa Connelly wins 16% with her overall claimers, and this gelding is still improving at the age of three.

2nd: (2) JIMMY THE HAT – won his Tapeta debut by over eight lengths in his second career start, then was second on the same surface at Turfway Park. Throw out his last start on a muddy track at Keeneland, and he drops way down in class.

3rd: (7) EXCLUSIVE ENTRY – speedball held on two starts back here to win by a neck, then came back this year with a good third.
