The Sunday card at Santa Anita is highlighted by a $19,444 carryover in the $1 Super High 5.
Santa Anita: Race 10: $19,444 Super High 5 carryover (7:30 p.m. ET)
The prize pool is available to chase in Race 10, a maiden special weight for three-year-old fillies sprinting six furlongs on turf. Although 14 fillies have entered, a maximum of 10 will be allowed to start, so four are on the also-eligible list.
#8 Yurak (2-1) is the morning line favorite, and her credentials are solid. We’ll key her on top of our Super High 5 tickets.

Yurak debuted on Sept. 5 in a one-mile maiden special weight over the Del Mar turf. After rating in midfield, she rallied to finish second by a head against Brave Deb, who flattered the form by returning to win the Surfer Girl (G3) in her next start.
Yurak hasn’t run since, but trainer John Sadler wins at a 21% rate with horses returning from layoffs of 90 days or more, and at a 22% rate with second-time starters. These stats suggest Yurak will be tough to beat in her return. It helps that she’s picking up hot jockey Juan Hernandez, a 27% winner at Santa Anita this meet.

Underneath, we’ll emphasize a longshot. #5 Surfin’ U. S. A. (12-1) has finished second and fourth in a pair of maiden special weights sprinting on turf at Santa Anita. She misfired in a one-mile contest last time out, but if you assume she’ll rebound while cutting back in distance, Surfin’ U. S. A. is an obvious candidate to finish in the top five.
#6 Struck By Her (6-1), formerly based in Ireland, has shown some ability and must be respected while making her North Ameircan debut for trainer Phil D’Amato. #7 Essential Lady (8-1) has a strong chance to factor too—she’s cracked the top five in both of her starts sprinting against maiden special weight competition on turf.
We’ll round out our tickets with a few first-time starters: #2 Forced Entry (7-2), #3 Sugar Reign (12-1), and #10 Bailarina (6-1).
Good luck!
