A $53,059 Pick 5 at Horseshoe Indianapolis and a $12,121 Super High 5 at Keeneland are among the carryovers worth pursuing on Saturday.
Horseshoe Indianapolis: Race 1: $53,059 Pick 5 carryover (12:00 p.m. ET)
Saturday is Indiana Champions Day at Horseshoe Indianapolis, and the stakes-packed card includes a $53,059 carryover in the 50-cent Early Pick 5.
Large and competitive fields abound in the Pick 5. The sequence feature 51 entries (averaging 10.2 per race) and 106,920 possible outcomes before scratches.
If you’re looking for a single to build tickets around, our best recommendation is #9 I. C. U. Aggie (2-1) in Race 4, the Indiana Stallion S. for Indiana-bred juvenile fillies sprinting six furlongs on dirt.
I. C. U. Aggie was tons the best when debuting in a 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight for Indiana-bred fillies on Sept. 22. She led all the way to score by nine lengths over a field including next-out maiden winner #4 Prayer for Music (9-2), who is back for the Indiana Stallion.
I. C. U. Aggie’s runaway win earned a 70 Brisnet Speed rating, the highest number in the Indiana Stallion field. We believe I. C. U. Aggie has the talent and upside to win right back for the hot jockey/trainer duo of Mitchell Murrill and Aaron West.
Keeneland: Race 10: $12,121 Super High 5 carryover (5:48 p.m. ET)
The final race on Saturday at Keeneland features a $12,121 carryover in the $1 Super High 5.
The afternoon finale is Race 10, a $125,000 allowance optional claimer for three-year-olds racing 1 1/8 miles over the main track. The three favorites—#1 Sassmaster (2-1), #2 Our Moneyman (3-1), and #10 Preside (7-2)—look formidable.
Sassmaster and Our Moneyman are dropping in class after finishing third and fourth in the Pennsylvania Derby (G1). Sassmaster came home 3 1/2 lengths ahead of Our Moneyman that day, but Our Moneyman ran into traffic trouble around the far turn and may be able to turn the tables with a clean trip at Keeneland.
As for Preside, he was beaten half a length by Sassmaster in a June 27 maiden special weight at Churchill Downs, but he’s since won back-to-back maiden and allowance races over 1 1/8 miles at Saratoga.
We suggest boxing Sassmaster, Our Moneyman, and Preside in the top three slots of the Super High 5, counting on them to run 1-2-3 in any order.
