Sunday Pick 6 carryovers: $192,078 at Del Mar, $2,688 at Colonial Downs

Colonial Downs: Race 4: $2,688 Pick 6 carryover (1:42 p.m. ET)

The 50-cent “Old Dominion 6” Pick 6 at Colonial Downs often goes unsolved. Such was the case on Saturday, which triggered a $2,688 carryover into Sunday’s card.

Finding a trustworthy single will help reduce the cost and complexity of building tickets. Fortunately, #3 Scrutinator (4-5) in Race 5 is a compelling single candidate.

Race 5 is a $12,500 maiden claimer for three-year-olds and older horses dashing six furlongs on dirt. Scrutinator is the heavy morning-line favorite in a 10-horse field because he’s dropping in class after running well against tougher competition.

Just look at the two races Scrutinator has run this year. On July 31, he returned from a long layoff in a six-furlong maiden special weight at Delaware Park. He tracked the pace before staying on to finish third.

Then on Aug. 20, Scrutinator tackled a 6 1/2-furlong $30,000 maiden claimer at Colonial Downs. He dueled for the lead through quick fractions and fought on well down the homestretch to finish second, beaten only 2 1/4 lengths.

The latter effort earned Scrutinator a career-best 85 Brisnet Speed rating. None of the other horses entered in Race 5 have earned a Brisnet Speed rating higher than 79.

Trainer stats cement Scrutinator as the horse to beat. He’s conditioned by Brittany Russell, a 24% winner at Colonial Downs this meet, a 30% winner with horses running back for the third time following a layoff, and a spectacular 44% winner with horses dropping multiple levels down the class ladder.

Descending to the $12,500 level in his third start of 2026 should be all Scrutinator needs to win.

Del Mar: Race 5: $192,078 Pick 6 carryover (7:09 p.m. ET)

The Sunday card at Del Mar is highlighted by a massive $192,078 carryover in the $2 Pick 6.

The feature event in the sequence is Race 7, the Torrey Pines (G3) for three-year-old fillies racing one mile on dirt. #3 Rabeeba (8-5) is the favorite, and we rank the unbeaten daughter of Curlin as a viable Pick 6 single.

Rabeeba has gone 2-for-2 for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert. First, she wired a 6 1/2-furlong maiden special weight at Los Alamitos by 1 1/2 lengths. Then she tackled a one-mile $50,000 allowance optional claimer at Del Mar, in which she led for much of the journey to triumph by 2 3/4 lengths with a sharp 92 Brisnet Speed rating.

Both of those wins came in races open to older horses. Now Rabeeba is squaring off against fellow sophomores in the Torrey Pines, which should help her chances. Hot jockey Juan Hernandez (a 39% winner teaming up with Baffert over the last two months) is named to ride, and Rabeeba should be difficult to catch while sticking to the same track and distance as her allowance win.
