Sunland Park: How to bet the $788 Super High 5 carryover

February 8th, 2026

If you can select the top five finishers, in order, in Sunday’s ninth race at Sunland Park, you can win a share of a $788 carryover in the 50-cent Super High 5.

Sunland Park: Race 9: $788 Super High 5 carryover (5:45 p.m. ET)

Race 9 is a $5,000 claimer for older horses sprinting 6 1/2 furlongs on dirt. We recommend playing #11 Ten Figures (5-2) on top of your tickets.

Formerly based in California, Ten Figures has been on the rise since transferring to trainer Martin Valdez-Cabral in New Mexico. He’s won back-to-back $7,500 claimers racing one mile at Zia Park and Sunland Park by margins of 7 3/4 lengths and 2 1/2 lengths, earning sharp Brisnet Speed ratings of 75 and 76.

Ten Figures has also proven effective sprinting. At Del Mar last summer, he won a six-furlong $50,000 maiden claimer for California-breds by half a length, earning a 77 Brisnet Speed rating. Cutting back to 6 1/2 furlongs for his second start at Sunland shouldn’t bother Ten Figures, so we’re confident he’ll deliver a winning run.

#7 Blocked (2-1) is a logical horse to emphasize underneath, and even use on top of some tickets. His form was slipping toward the end of his 2025 campaign, but between August 2024 and February 2025 he earned Brisnet Speed ratings in the 78-83 range in six straight starts, including a couple of wins in $10,000 claimers at Remington Park.

Blocked has been freshened since July and enters off fast workouts at Sunland Park, including a bullet half-mile in :46 2/5. He looks ready to bounce back with a strong showing for the hot jockey/trainer duo of Luis Valenzuela and Justin Evans, who have gone 5-for-20 (25%) teaming up together over the last two months.

#9 Pray for Me Ray (8-1) has a good shot to finish in the top five. His Brisnet Speed ratings are solid, and he’s been competing at tougher class levels. Dropping down for a $5,000 claimer might be all he needs to factor.

#10 Aaron Who (6-1) shouldn’t be underestimated either. Last time out, he wired a 6 1/2-furlong $10,000 claimer for New Mexico-breds at Zia Park, earning a 69 Brisnet Speed rating that suggests he’s fast enough to challenge for a top-five finish at Sunland.

Good luck!
