Best Bets and Quick Picks
Horseshoe Indianapolis: Race 1: Maiden Special Weight (five furlongs on dirt, 2:10 p.m. ET)
Since 2024, trainer Rey Hernandez has gone 3-for-6 (50%) saddling two-year-olds at Horseshoe Indianapolis in months before June.
This bodes well for #4 Chasing the Son (5-1). He’s a son of juvenile Grade 1 winner Maxfield out of Purely a Dream, who previously foaled juvenile stakes winner Hal.
Chasing the Son is bred to win from an early age and enters off a bullet three-furlong workout from the starting gate in :34 4/5, so all signs suggest he’s ready for a winning debut. Let’s place a win bet on Chasing the Son.
Selections
- #4 Chasing the Son (5-1)
- #3 Hes Steelin Mylady (7-2)
- #6 Roses’ Boy (9-2)
Wagers
- $30 to win on #4 Chasing the Son
Presque Isle Downs: Race 4: Maiden Special Weight (4 1/2 furlongs on dirt, 4:51 p.m. ET)
#1 Barometric (3-1) ran well when debuting in a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight at Churchill Downs last month. She raced in second at every call and was beaten only by the promising Wesley Ward trainee Ruiva.
Even in defeat, Barometric earned an 86 Brisnet Speed rating 16 points higher than the par winning number for Monday’s conditions. She figures to find the competition easier at Presque Isle Downs, setting the stage for victory.
Let’s bet Barometric to win and key her over #3 Almighty One (12-1) in an exacta.
Selections
- #1 Barometric (3-1)
- #3 Almighty One (12-1)
- #9 Chinaberry (7-1)
Wagers
- $35 to win on #1 Barometric
- $5 Exacta: 1 with 3
Total: $40
Assiniboia Downs: Race 1: Maiden Special Weight (five furlongs on dirt, 8:30 p.m. ET)
#5 Clippity Cop (12-1) is an unraced filly from the barn of Michael Nault, who wins at a powerful 41% rate with first-time starters.
Clippity Cop has the pedigree to enjoy success from an early age. Her dam, Agolo Bynoe, has previously foaled Lady Cop (a two-time stakes winner at age two) and Call the Cops (who won a stakes at age three).
Nault has gone 2-for-3 (67%) at Assiniboia Downs this meet, and Clippity Cop can give Nault another victory. Let’s place a win bet and hope her enticing 12-1 morning-line odds hold up.
Selections
- #5 Clippity Cop (12-1)
- #2 Brown Lite (2-1)
- #3 Rise Again (9-5)
Wagers
- $30 to win on #5 Clippity Cop
Good luck!
