#4 Socorro’s Prayer (7-5) has run well in recent starts sprinting against allowance company at Horseshoe Indianapolis. He finished second by half a length on July 6 and first by a neck on July 27, earning back-to-back 82 Brisnet Speed ratings.

None of the other horses entered in Race 4 have recently earned a Brisnet Speed rating higher than 79, so let’s single Socorro’s Prayer to start a double wager and key him over #6 Costly Pass (5-2) in an exacta.

His pedigree offers potential for improvement while stretching out over one mile, and the competition should be easier at Horseshoe Indianapolis, setting the stage for Modern Legacy to graduate in his second start.

There isn’t much pace in this five-horse field, which should lend an edge to #5 Lisa Connects (8-5). The three-year-old filly is reasonably tactical, and she achieved her lone victory in gate-to-wire fashion.

Lisa Connects is dropping down in class and distance after running third in the one-mile Manitoba Oaks. She’s placed in multiple stakes and brings sharp Brisnet Speed ratings to the table, so let’s key her on top of #4 Zibibbo (2-1) and #3 Misspennymischief (5-1) in a trifecta.

Carryover Watch

Assiniboia Downs: Race 6: $2,661 Super High 5 carryover (10:40 p.m. ET)

No one solved the $1 “Classic Hi-5” Super High 5 in Monday’s final race at Assiniboia Downs, triggering a $2,661 USD ($3,672 CAD) carryover into Tuesday’s card.

The prize pool is up for grabs in Race 6, the $25,000 Plentiful S. for three-year-olds and older horses racing 1 1/16 miles on dirt. The eight-horse field is led by #5 Judo (8-5), but we believe #8 What’s Shakin (8-1) has upset potential.

Judo has won three of his last four starts at Assiniboia Downs, including two stakes. In the R. J. Speers S., he earned a flashy 99 Brisnet Speed rating. But lately, he’s done his best work over distances from six furlongs to 7 1/2 furlongs. When he tackled one mile in the Manitoba Mile two starts back, he finished a distant sixth and came home behind fifth-place finisher What’s Shakin.

What’s Shakin has performed well in a number of stakes racing 1 1/16 miles or farther. Last summer at Hastings, he won the 1 1/16-mile CTHS Sales S. and finished third (upgraded from fourth via disqualification) in the 1 1/8-mile S. W. Randall Plate Handicap.

In the Manitoba Mile, What’s Shakin trailed early before passing rivals in the final quarter-mile to finish 1 1/4 lengths ahead of Judo. Stretching out over 1 1/16 miles for the Plentiful may tip the scales even more in What’s Shakin’s favor, so although Judo has run faster on the Brisnet Speed rating scale, What’s Shakin has a chance to beat him again on Monday.

Underneath, we’ll emphasize #1 Elston Gunnn (3-1), #6 Mr Jaws (12-1), and #7 Pay My Way (25-1).

Elston Gunnn is the lone three-year-old in the field. His last two starts have yielded a runner-up effort in the one-mile Derby Trial S. and a sixth-place finish in the 1 1/8-mile Manitoba Derby. Brisnet Speed ratings suggest he’s good fit for the Plentiful field.

Mr Jaws finished eighth and last in the Manitoba Mile, but he came home only two lengths behind Judo and is a logical candidate to crack the top five on Tuesday.

Pay My Way typically performs well in route races, and Brisnet Speed ratings suggest he’s fast enough to factor for a top-five finish in the Plentiful.
