Best Bets and Quick Picks
Finger Lakes: Race 2: Maiden Special Weight (5 1/2 furlongs on dirt, 1:29 p.m. ET)
#3 High Yield Hunk (7-2) is a logical threat to win on debut for trainer Anthony Ferraro, who strikes at a 21% rate with horses debuting in maiden special weights.
A half-brother to multiple Group 3 stakes winner Big Call, High Yield Hunk has posted a trio of bullet workouts at Finger Lakes.
It can be tricky for inexperienced horseplayers to bet on maiden races filled with unraced horses. How is it possible to predict the performances of horses who have never run?@J_Keelerman is here to help ⤵️ https://t.co/9wjSr6vjBK

Let’s try a win bet on this 7-2 shot.
Selections
- #3 High Yield Hunk (7-2)
- #4 King Royale (6-1)
- #2 Hoity Moroni (3-1)
Wagers
- $25 to win on #3 High Yield Hunk
Horseshoe Indianapolis: Race 2: Maiden Special Weight (4 1/2 furlongs on dirt, 2:41 p.m. ET)
#1 War Spirit (3-5) was beaten in his first two starts against maiden special weight foes at Ellis Park, but the $500,000 yearling acquisition may find the competition a bit easier at Horseshoe Indianapolis, opening the door for victory.
Take note, the 71 Brisnet Speed rating War Spirit earned in his debut is two points higher than the par winning Brisnet Speed rating (69) for Tuesday’s conditions.
Let’s single War Spirit to start a double bet.
Selections
- #1 War Spirit (3-5)
- #7 Distant Galaxy (6-1)
- #6 Silver Wishes (15-1)
Wagers
- $20 Double: 1 with 1
Horseshoe Indianapolis: Race 3: Maiden Special Weight (one mile on dirt, 3:12 p.m. ET)
Since 2022, trainer Brad Cox has compiled a sharp 6-for-24 (25%) record saddling experienced juveniles in dirt routes at Horseshoe Indianapolis.
This bodes well for #1 Valiant (5-1), a $1 million yearling purchase. The son of perennial leading sire Into Mischief showed some speed in his debut sprinting six furlongs at Ellis Park before tiring to finish seventh.
Cox wins at a 27% rate with second-time starters, and at a 30% rate with horses running long for the first time, so the stage is set for Valiant to visit the winner’s circle under hot jockey Fernando De La Cruz, a 44% winner teaming up with Cox over the last two months.
Let’s single Valiant to conclude our double wager, then bet him to win.
Selections
- #1 Valiant (5-1)
- #9 Arabia Wild (5-2)
- #4 Grand Mahogany (4-1)
Wagers
- $25 to win on #1 Valiant
Good luck!
