Churchill Downs: Race 7: Maiden Special Weight (one mile on dirt, 3:55 p.m. ET)

#8 Intangible (5-2) ran only so-so when debuting in a six-furlong maiden special weight at Churchill Downs, finishing fourth by 4 1/4 lengths while facing 10 rivals. But trainer Brad Cox wins at a 27% rate with second-time starters, and at a 30% rate with horses running long for the first time, so there are reasons to believe Intangible can move forward on Wednesday.

#9 Aggressive Lime (9-5) dominated her debut in a one-mile maiden special weight at Kentucky Downs, winning by four lengths. Then she stepped up in class for the 1 1/16-mile Jessamine (G2) and rallied to finish sixth in an 11-horse field, beaten only two lengths.

Dropping in class for an allowance should make Aggressive Lime tough to beat for the hot jockey/trainer duo of Irad Ortiz Jr. and Brad Cox. We’ll single him in our double and Pick 3 wagers from Race 7 and also use him to start a second double wager.

Churchill Downs: Race 9: Maiden Special Weight (six furlongs on dirt, 4:55 p.m. ET)

#10 Patriot Moon (2-1) nearly won his debut over this class level at Keeneland last month. He vied for command throughout and finished second by a neck while pulling 9 1/2 lengths clear of the third-place finisher.

That performance earned a sharp 86 Brisnet Speed rating, suggesting Patriot Moon will be tough to beat while sticking to the same class level. We’ll place a win bet on the two-year-old gelding and single him to conclude our double and Pick 3 wagers.
