Best Bets and Quick Picks

Horseshoe Indianapolis: Race 1: $25,000 Maiden Claiming (5 1/2 furlongs on dirt, 2:10 p.m. ET)

#9 God and Luck (9-2) finished midfield in his first two starts against maiden special weight competition at Horseshoe Indianapolis. In one of those races—a 5 1/2-furlong sprint—God and Luck earned a 51 Brisnet Speed rating that tops Wednesday’s field.

Dropping in class for a $25,000 maiden claimer should put God and Luck in the hunt for victory at fair odds. Let’s bet him to win.

Selections

  • #9 God and Luck (9-2)
  • #10 Not That Sleepy (7-2)
  • #1 Pray for Victory (4-1)

Wagers

  • $25 to win on #9 God and Luck

Keeneland: Race 5: $30,000 Maiden Claiming (six furlongs on dirt, 3:08 p.m. ET)

#6 Go Jack Go (9-2) showed flashes of ability in a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight at Churchill Downs last month. He carved out quick fractions for a half-mile before tiring to finish eighth.

Trainer Rodolphe Brisset wins at a 24% rate with horses dropping from maiden special weight to maiden claiming company, so Go Jack Go may have more success carrying his speed against easier competition. It’s encouraging to note he’s picking up five-time Eclipse Award-winning jockey Irad Ortiz Jr.

Let’s try a win bet on Go Jack Go.

Selections

  • #6 Go Jack Go (9-2)
  • #11 Tims (10-1)
  • #10 Wood You Dare (20-1)

Wagers

  • $25 to win on #6 Go Jack Go

Keeneland: Race 7: Maiden Special Weight (seven furlongs on dirt, 4:12 p.m. ET)

#8 More Sweeter (15-1) debuted in a one-mile maiden special weight on grass at Kentucky Downs. She failed to factor while finishing 10th, but take note, the winner was next-out Miss Grillo (G2) conqueror Ground Support.

Hot trainer Brendan Walsh (a 33% winner at Keeneland this meet) strikes at a solid 19% rate with horses switching from turf to dirt, so perhaps the surface switch will help More Sweeter improve. A couple of fast workouts at Turfway Park in recent weeks are encouraging to see, and the presence of internationally renowned jockey Frankie Dettori adds to the appeal.

At 15-1, More Sweeter is worthy of a win bet.

Selections

  • #8 More Sweeter (15-1)
  • #10 Bonne Sante (5-2)
  • #9 Rose of San Antone (8-1)

Wagers

  • $25 to win on #8 More Sweeter

Good luck!
