Wednesday Harness Preview for 1/29/2014

January 30th, 2014

One week after the track nixed its live racing program due to the extreme cold and only hours after it also postponed morning qualifiers for the same reason, Dover Downs will fight through the bitter chill to offer a 15-race card this evening.

In the second race on the program, give Twenty To Life a chance to notch his first victory of the season in a non-winners of two event. Twenty To Life was a good second in his seasonal debut last out and will face two horses, Attack The Lead and Dancing Cruiser, that are both making their 2014 bows and will draw plenty of support. Twenty To Life could float up to 6-1 by post time.

Just past the midway point of the card in the evening's eighth, a non-winners of $6001 last six event for pacing fillies and mares, look for Elizabeth Ann to continue her winning ways despite the moderate class hike. A winner of each of her first two starts this year, Elizabeth Ann will go postward at 5-1 from the rail - granted, not an always advantage spot on this oval - but should be in prime position to post the modest upset.

In the very next race on the card, take a swing at Can Do (Victor Kirby) in the winners over $12,000 last six class for trotters. Can Do has plenty of early speed and should get away well from post nine - in the second tier at Dover - and then be able to brush to command before the half and dictate the tempo from there.

One race later in the 10th, the featured $20,000 Open Handicap for trotters, look for Modern Family (Daryl Bier) to record his first win of the campaign. Last out in his seasonal debut, Modern Family raced first over from well off the pace and settled for third as Treverse Seelster - assigned the outside slot this evening - led throughout. Modern Family should prove tightened up from that effort and should get the job done as the second or third choice.

In the very next race on the card, another conditioned event for trotters, give Hall of Muscles (Jonathan Roberts) a look. In a race that features the seasonal debut of Arriba Amigo (Corey Callahan) who will likely be the 6-5 choice, Hall of Muscles has been in good form all winter and he should have a fitness edge over Arriba Amigo when they clash this evening and he could drift as high as 10-1 by post time.

Then in the 14th race, a non-winners lifetime class for trotters, look for Dribble Drive (George Dennis) to finally attain his first win of the young campaign. Having finished second twice and third once in his three previous outings, Dribble Drive has delivered three good efforts that have to this point ended up just shy of reaching the winner's circle. This evening marks the ideal time to atone for past misses and possibly at 4-1.
