Wednesday Harness Preview for 3/26/2014

One day after another post-winter storm made for interesting scenes at several harness racing tracks along the East Coast, chilly and much drier conditions should prevail at Dover Downs on Wednesday and ideal conditions should be on tap at Pompano Park as both five-eighths mile ovals focus on races for trotters.
Actually at Dover Downs on Wednesday the first play is a pacer. Last week Mr Molly N was used hard to make the front before the half in 55.3 and gave way late to finish third in a conditioned event as the 1-2 choice. Mr Molly N comes right back into the same non-winners of $6001 last six class and should be able to control the tempo early from his inside draw and edge clear late at 5-2 or so.
Two races later on the card, look for Warrawee Onyx to regain his winning ways in a non-winners of five races lifetime event for trotters. Owned and trained by William "Doc" Moffett, Warrawee Onyx has been a model of consistency in his eight local outings and should garner his second win from nine starts this year despite starting from post nine in the second tier. He could drift as high as 5-1 in the wagering.
Several races later in the evening's 11th, a non-winners of $9001 last six starts class for trotters, give Sea Raven another chance to attain his first win of the season. Although he has finished second three times and third twice in eight winless tries this season, Sea Raven has been largely unlucky in recent starts and should finally be able to work out an ideal trip that enables him to find the winner's circle for the first time.
Then two races later in the 13th, a winners over $45,000 lifetime affair for trotters someday looking to reach the Open, look for Kodak Lindy to finally garner his first of the season. Second twice and third once in four starts for owner-trainer Brenda Teague, Kodak Lindy rallied from well off the pace and second over behind dull cover last week to finish third in this class. With a little more tempo up front and some live cover, Kodak Lindy should finally emerge victorious this evening.

Both delivered good efforts last week and either could prevail this evening.
In the second race, a conditioned $7500 claimer for pacers, take a swing at Fantastic Rock despite his outside post draw. Last week as an overlooked 16-1 shot he raced first over for more than the last half-mile and finished a sharp second, beaten just a nose, He has already won twice this year and last week's performance hinted that a third tally is close at hand.
Then in the very next race on the card, the other half of the split, non-winners of $4751 last five starts for trotters, look for Goldstar Classic to shed his bridesmaid role and find the winner's circle. In 10 starts this year, Goldstar Classic has won twice and been second five times and this month he has been particularly unlucky while attempting to rally from far back. Tonight he should finally be able to work out a decent trip and roll past the leaders in the lane.
