Where will the Breeders' Cup 2025 be held?

How many Breeders' Cup races are there?

There are five major Breeders' Cup races on Friday that include the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint, Juvenile Fillies, Juvenile Fillies Turf, Juvenile, and Juvenile Turf. 

Saturday consists of nine major stakes races, including the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, Turf Sprint, Distaff, Turf, Classic,  Filly & Mare Turf, Sprint, Mile, and Dirt Mile.

When does Breeders' Cup start?

The post time for the first race on Oct. 31, The Pacific Shore (1xm Allowance), is at 2:35 EDT [11:35 AM PDT] with the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint being the first official Breeders' Cup races beginning at 5:25 EDT [2:45 PM PDT]. Saturday's first race, Nov 1, begins with The Sunrise at 1:05 PM EDT [10:05 AM PDT]. The Breeders' Cup race showcases the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint beginning at 3:00 PM EDT [12:00 PM PDT].

What is the Breeder's Cup?

The Breeders' Cup is one of the richest two days of racing with a $34 million payout in purses and awards. 

There are three main ways to gain entry into a Breeders' Cup race. An automatic "Win and You're In" is accomplished through a Breeders' Cup Challenge held at various tracks. 

A point-based system that ranks horses based on their performance throughout the year is another way to squeeze into one of the Breeders' Cup races. 

The last option is to be selected by a panel of experts. Through this process, the best of the best are ensured to compete. The next Kentucky Derby winner could be among them.
