Delta Downs: Horse racing pick of the day for Nov. 30

November 30th, 2020

Weekday picks and plays for Thoroughbred racing.

Monday, Nov. 30

Delta Downs, Race 7: Jean Lafitte S. (7 furlongs, 4:39 p.m. ET)

#4 Awesome Gerry (6-5 on the morning line) is understandably the favorite for high-percentage trainer Saffie Joseph. The son of Liam’s Map rallied to victory in his first two starts on the Florida circuit, then he finished fourth in the Nyquist S. at Keeneland. The Jean Lafitte is an easier spot, and ultra-hot jockey Timothy Thornton (10-for-23 at Delta Downs this meet) has picked up the mount.

But Awesome Gerry’s stablemate, #3 Drain the Clock (4-1), has technically run faster in terms of Brisnet Speed figures. A runaway maiden victory at Gulfstream Park and a gutsy allowance score at Gulfstream Park West produced Brisnet Speed ratings of 93 and 91, the two highest figures in the Jean Lafitte field.

Let’s play Awesome Gerry and Drain the Clock together on top of trifecta and superfecta tickets. Underneath, we’ll emphasize #2 Privet Moon (8-1), a sharp maiden winner who has shipped in from Indiana Grand for trainer Brad Cox.

$6 trifecta: 3,4 with 3,4 with 2,6 ($24)
$3 trifecta: 3,4 with 2 with 3,4 ($6)
$2 superfecta: 3,4 with 3,4 with 2,6 with 2,6 ($8)
$1 superfecta: 3,4 with 2 with 3,4 with 6 ($2)
Total: $40

Good luck!
