Edited Press Release

Alcibiades S. (G1) winner Gomo will not contest the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) on October 31 at Keeneland. Instead, the bay daughter of Uncle Mo will undergo minor surgery to remove a chip in an ankle and receive some time off.

“Mr. (Paul) Reddam already has Land Over Sea for that race,” assistant trainer Jack Sisterson said. “Gomo is a Grade 1 winner and we are going to let her mature over the winter. She’ll be fine.”

Fellow Doug O’Neill trainee Land Over Sea, who has chased likely Juvenile Fillies favorite Songbird home in the Del Mar Debutante (G1) and Chandelier S. (G1) in her past two starts, is scheduled to arrive at Keeneland on October 25.

Joining her on the flight will be two other O’Neill Breeders’ Cup hopefuls: Nyquist, who is headed to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1), and Sharla Rae, a candidate for the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (G1).
