Greyhound Preview - SOUTHLAND 9/11/14
By MoneyMaker Mike
Race 5 - Grade A - 583 yard course - I'm going with the (6) Border Campaign to get his first Grade A win. This talented and impressive young pup has already accumulated 12 top three starts in 14 races in his short career and that kind of consistency makes him the key in this one. As some of you may remember, he was one of the five up and coming greyhounds at Southland that I posted about last month. He has continued to run hard and I look for a big race from him here. Two of his toughest challengers will be the (8) Flyin Gold Ingot who is well posted and shows a win from eight box in Grade AA just a few races back and the (2) NB's Street Lord who likes the inside. Completing the ticket, I will use the (5) Thrill Deal who is going after her third straight win.
Pick 6-8-2-5
Race 9 - Grade AA - 583 yard course - The key here is the (4) Counselor who is eight out of eight in top four finishes including five straight wins which took him from Grade M to Grade AA in less than a month. This greyhound is extremely talented and well worth watching each and every time he runs. The future for him is bright indeed and I believe he puts another win on his racing resume here. The (6) Flying Riot has been running hard lately as evidenced by a win and three second place finishes in his last six races and with a good strong rush here to the turn should be in good position to challenge the leaders down the stretch. I do like the (1) Kiowa Catand Hat as he is well posted for his inside running style. Also worth a play is the (8) Orion's Belt who does show a win from the eight box just a month ago in this same grade.
Pick 4-6-1-8
Race 14 - Grade AA - 660 yard course - I like the (1) Time Flies as the key here as he has a lot of early speed and loves the inside. He won in this grade from the one box just three races ago and should be vying for the lead right out of the box. The (2) Gusta Of Ruckus will go paw to paw with him as she also has good early speed and I believe these two will battle it out for the win. Not to be overlooked, I'll include the(3) PJ You Ask Why in case he is able to find room on the outside for his wide running style. He will need a good break and avoid trouble but he is capable of a big effort here. Finishing the play, I'll use another wide runner, the (7) KL's Suede who does have 10 wins this season and he also has good early speed.
Pick 1-2-3-7
The MoneyMaker play of the evening is in the 4th race, a Grade M contest over the 583 yard course and the pick is the (8) CBJ Jackie O who despite having much trouble lately does have five top four finishes in her young career of seven races. She likes it wide and has been showing signs of trying to go to the front in a couple of her last races so I'll give her a shot here since she should go off at decent odds here. Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
