Greyhound Preview - SOUTHLAND 9/19/14

September 18th, 2014

By MoneyMaker Mike

Race 5 - Grade C - 583 yard course - The pick here is the (5) Drew My Charges who in his young career of 14 starts has 10 top four finishes and has a streak of six top three finishes going as well including two wins in his last three races. He has a strong rush to the turn and a good closing ability and is posted well for his mid-track running style. The (8) WW's Wrecknralph came here from the Birmingham track where he was running Grade A and had 8 wins in 14 contest. I think he gets loose here and challenges all the way to the wire as he does have two second place finishes already in Grade B since arriving here. The (4) PJ Big Timemoney has a strong closing move and I can't overlook him here as he should be flying down the stretch and to finish the play, I'll include the (1) Track Dynasty as she likes the rail and does have good enough early speed to vie for the lead right out of the box.

Pick 5-8-4-1

Race 13 - Grade A - 583 yard course - I'm going with the (1) Fly Aqib Talib who has been running strong since starting his career just a few weeks back. This impressive young greyhound has four wins already and has moved from Maiden grade to Grade A in just a little over a month. An inside runner with lots of early speed, he has a bright future ahead and is my choice as the one to beat here. His main competition should come from the (9) Arkans Max who has dropped in grade and also has good early speed and with a good break here should go paw to paw right out of the box with him. The (6) WW's Grover also is capable of hitting the lid so I'll include him here in case he does just that and I'll complete the play by using the (2) All Business who has a streak of six straight top four finishes and is certainly worthy of being in tri and superfecta plays.

Pick 1-9-6-2

Race 18 - Grade TAA - 703 yard course - A very competitive field in this one and the choice is the (8) PJ I'm A Jammer who has encountered much trouble lately though he does have the early speed needed to challenge for the lead right out of the box and I'm hoping the seven dog helps him to do just that. The (6) WWLonestarleland is a recent transfer from the Derby Lane track and since his arrival has four top four finishes in five races and will be coming strong down the stretch so don't overlook this one. The (4) L's Flaco has been very consistent as shown by his 33 top four finishes in 40 contests this season and should he find running room early for his wide running style, he'll be in the battle for the win. I also like the (1) Mega Gilroy as he is coming off a win last time out from the same one box he's drawn in this race.

Pick 8-6-4-1

The MoneyMaker play of the evening is in the 1st race, a Grade D contest over the 660 yard course and the pick is the (2) Kelsos Maverick who is long overdue for his first win since coming to Southland from the Mardi Gras track. He likes the inside and does seem to be running better lately as evidenced by his two third place finishes in his last four races. He's worth a play here.

Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
