Harrington Offers Memorial Day Card
While standardbred fans might have been spoiled by Sunday's stellar card at Harrah's Philadelphia, Monday evening offered plenty of action at Harrington Raceway in Delaware.
Fittingly, Monday's early daily double was captured by catch driver Victor Kirby just five days after he and fellow reinsmen Jim Morand and Tyler Davis were involved in a spill at the Delaware half-mile oval. Kirby and Davis returned immediately but Morand will be sidelined for a while.
In the opener on the card, Allwillworkout and Kirby overcame post eight to capture a non-winners of $25,000 lifetime class for pacers. A three-year-old Western Terror gelding trained by Alexander Rice, Jr., Allwillworkout notched his fourth win in 11 seasonal starts.
Then in the next race on the card, Almost Cut My Hair and Kirby benefited from the rail and prevailed as the 5-2 second choice. A sophomore son of Barber Pole trained by Kevin Switzer, Almost Cut My Hair recorded his second straight score.
One race later on the card, Dancin Yankee (Allan Davis) overcame post seven to capture a non-winners of $11,101 last five starts class for older pacers. A nine-year-old Yankee Cruiser stallion trained by Josh Green, Dancin Yankee recorded his second win in nine starts this year and now owns 56 wins in 175 career outings with lifetime earnings of $1.56 million.
Then two races later in the featured $17,500 Open Handicap, Arque Hanover (Jonathan Roberts) lived up to his role as the 3-5 favorite when he gained command in a 27.1 opener, got a breather to the half and led throughout to score in 1:52. A five-year-old Rock N Roll Heaven stallion trained by Dylan Davis, Arque Hanover now owns a 3-4-2 slate and $68,000 bankroll from 14 starts this year and he sports a 16-11-10 slate and $380,000 banked from 69 career tries.

It was his second win in five starts this year and the third tally in 10 career tries for the Jim King,Jr. trainee.
