How to wager on the Pick 6 carryover Tuesday at Turf Paradise

January 5th, 2016

There are several things to attract horseplayers to today's 8-race card at Turf Paradise. Chief among them, of course, is the $72,618 carryover in the track's $1 Pick 6 wager. This level carryover for a non jackpot bet with a base of $1 is not typical. When Aqueduct had a $162k carryover in it $.50 Pick 5, there was more than $1-million in new money added to the pool. We won't see that kind of money today, but $250,000 is not out of the realm of possibility considering the only other tracks running are Mahoning Valley and Sunland following Portland Meadows' cancellation.

And that's another thing to like: Even if the Pick 6 wasn't for you (or the carryover didn't exist today), it'd still be worth trying to push any edge you think you have playing the horses because a lot of people who have never even played Turf Paradise might be giving it a try today with so few other options. The Pick 6 makes this especially so. Pay attention to the pools!

I handicapped the whole card, and the good news for Pick 6 players as the two toughest races on the day are the early double, which is outside the Pick 6 that starts with race 3.

I have two lone "A" picks in the sequence: #8 in race 7 (leg 5) & #1 in race 6 (leg 4) with a stronger feel for the latter.

My full ABC grid is below (and was filled out before the 5 scratched in race 6). Good luck!
