Weekday picks and plays for Thoroughbred racing.
Monday, Nov. 16
Indiana Grand, Race 8: Maiden special weight (1 mile, 5:35 p.m. ET)
#1 Battle Bling (5-2 on the morning line) is clearly the horse to beat in this 1-mile maiden race for 2-year-old fillies.
Trained by Steve Asmussen, Battle Bling finished ninth in her debut over the Kentucky Downs turf course, then transitioned to dirt and rallied to finish second by a neck over a mile and 70 yards at Indiana Grand.
The latter effort was noteworthy on several levels. Battle Bling produced a determined charge in a slow-paced race to earn a sharp, 94 Brisnet Late Pace rating. She also pulled 12 lengths clear of the third-place finisher and put up a 79 Brisnet Speed rating, which is much higher than par for Monday’s class and distance.

With jockey Jermaine Bridgmohan (a 19% winner at Indiana Grand) in the saddle, Battle Bling should be tough to beat.
Let’s play her on top of #3 Destinique (6-1), #4 Easy Silence (2-1), and #5 Mindy’s Way (9-2) in the exacta and trifecta.
$6 exacta: 1 with 3,4,5 ($18)
$2 trifecta: 1 with 3,4,5 with 3,4,5 ($12)
Total: $30
Good luck!
