Weekday picks and plays for Thoroughbred racing.
Tuesday, Nov. 10
Parx Racing, Race 1: Maiden Special Weight (1 mile and 70 yards, 12:25 p.m. ET)
Although #6 Peyton Elizabeth (9-5 on the morning line) finished behind #5 Bravo Regina (5-2) in her Sept. 15 debut sprinting 7 furlongs at Parx, the tables were turned when both fillies stretched out over 1 mile and 70 yards Oct. 5.
With jockey Frankie Pennington aboard, Peyton Elizabeth tracked the pace and stayed on gamely down the stretch to finish second, by 1 1/2 lengths, over Bravo Regina. That effort produced a 79 Brisnet Speed rating, the highest figure in Tuesday’s field.
A stoutly bred daughter of Flatter, out of an Arch mare, Peyton Elizabeth should continue improving under the care of trainer John Servis, who has enlisted Pennington to ride again. Together, they’ve been winning at a 25% rate.
