Penn National: Horse racing pick of the day for Nov. 6

November 6th, 2020

Weekday picks and plays for Thoroughbred racing.

Friday, Nov. 6

Penn National, Race 7: Shamrock Rose S. (6 furlongs, 8:43 p.m. ET)

#3 Plane Drunk (5-2 on the morning line) is a logical favorite for trainer Phil Schoenthal. The son of Stay Thirsty broke his maiden by 11 3/4 lengths racing 5 1/2 furlongs at Parx, then proved his class against stakes company when he finished second in the 5 1/2-furlong Small Wonder S. at Delaware Park.

With Penn National’s leading rider Edwin Gonzalez in the saddle, Plane Drunk looks tough to beat.

On the other hand, #2 Hickory Dickorydoc (4-1) ran a big race of his own in the Small Wonder. Over a sloppy track favorable to speed, Hickory Dickorydoc settled eight lengths off the early tempo and rallied late to finish third, just a head behind Plane Drunk.

Hickory Dickorydoc raced greenly down the homestretch, where he weaved around and refused to change off his left lead, so there is room for improvement.

He won his debut nicely over this distance, so let’s key Hickory Dickorydoc in the exacta and trifecta, with Plane Drunk and #6 My Beautiful Belle (9-2) in the remaining slots.

$4 exacta: 2 with 3,6 ($8)
$4 exacta: 3,6 with 2 ($8)
$2 trifecta: 2 with 3,6 with 3,6 ($4)
$2 trifecta: 3,6 with 2 with 3,6 ($4)
$3 trifecta: 3,6 with 3,6 with 2 ($6)
Total: $30

Good luck!
