Racing Roundtable: Top Breeders' Cup stables, multi-race wager strategies, and more

October 22nd, 2025

In this week's Racing Roundtable, James Scully, Vance Hanson, and Ashley Anderson reconvene to debate the top stables headed to the 2025 Breeders' Cup, where to single in multi-race wagers on the Nov. 1 card at Del Mar, and more.

Per usual, world-class trainer Aidan O'Brien — tied for the most Breeders' Cup victories, with 20 – will arrive at Del Mar with a number of top horses, including True Love, Precise, and Gstaad on the Friday card and three-year-old filly Minnie Hauk in the Breeders' Cup Turf (G1) on Saturday. The latter is a high-profile Frankel sophomore who will make her U.S. debut at Del Mar on Nov. 1 and will clash with two-time Turf winner Rebel's Romance, one of several chances for Charlie Appleby in the World Championships.

Among U.S.-based trainers, Todd Pletcher could tally a handful of winners in the dirt races, including the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1). He'll also bring mighty two-year-old Ted Noffey to the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1), a race Pletcher has won four times, most recently with Fierceness in 2023. The champion two-year-old is now one of Pletcher's contenders in the 2025 Classic.

Multi-race wagering strategies and viable singles on Saturday's card are also among the hot topics of discussion in this week's Roundtable. To close out, Hanson touches on British Champions Day, while Scully takes a deeper look at recent winners of the Breeders' Cup and their final prep races, and Anderson shines a light on the Everest (G1) and Hong Kong's Ka Ying Rising, the top turf sprinter in the world.
