Two major juvenile stars are entered in Friday's 400 yard trials. Teller Baja, winner of the Remington Park Futurity (RG3) and Ruidoso Futurity(G1) runner-up A Revenant, will be gunning for one of the five finalist spots awarded for the first day of trials.

Teller Baja will be in action Friday at Ruidoso Downs in trials for the Rainbow Futurity.
Teller Baja, a daughter of Teller Cartel, is undefeated and makes her first start following her victory at Remington Park in the $888,000 Remington Park Oklahoma-bred Futurity on April 23. She is trained by leading AQHA Quarter Horse conditioner, Judd Kearl, who won training titles at Hialeah Park and Sam Houston Race Park already in 2016. She is entered in the 11th trial on Friday afternoon and will be ridden by Agustin Silva.
The fifth trial of the day will feature A Revenant, the game runner-up in the Grade 1, $1 million Ruidoso Futurity. He lost a head bob to Apolltical Chad, whose connections opted to sit out of the Rainbow Futurity and point their colt to the $3 million All American Futurity. Trials for that Grade 1 stakes are run the third week of August with the final always contested on Labor Day at Ruidoso Downs.
Past winners of the Rainbow Futurity include Carters Cookie in 2012; My First Prize Rose in 2013; longshot Trendi in 2014 and Tres Friends, trained by Blane Wood last year.
There is a special 12:30 p.m. first post time for each day of Rainbow Futurity trials. For complete Ruidoso Downs’ information, go to www.raceruidoso.com, and each of the trials will be promptly updated by the Ruidoso Press Box (@RuiPressBox) on Twitter.
