Santa Anita - Irish O'Brien Stakes, Saturday, March 15, 2014

March 15th, 2014

Santa Anita 4 | 5:00 pm ET Irish O'Brien for 4&Up F&M going 6.5f (T)

The state-bred Irish O'Brien Stakes is a key race on Saturday at Santa Anita as it's part of the pick-5, early pick-4 and pick-6. Morning line favorite and mare to beat is DANCINGTOTHESTARS,who is coming off a seventh place finish in the one-mile Grade 2 Buena Vista Handicap. She has run down the hill before, but is winless in four starts. CIAO BELLA LUNA, on the other hand, has a win over the course, taking down the Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf Sprint in January. She will be pressing the pace under jockey Rafael Bejarano. TRIBAL SPY looms the upsetter if she gets back to her front-running ways. In the SM F&M Turf Sprint she did not make the lead and finished a half-length behind CIAO BELLA LUNA. Two starts back she went wire to wire in a faster time than the stakes run. She is best on the lead and she looks to be the speed of the speed.
