SPELLBOUND was the pick to upset the Grade 2 La Canada back in January and she did just that, coming back at $35.00 for a $2 wager. The Bernardini filly faces a couple of similar foes on Saturday, but the filly she needs to beat is IOTAPA. IOTAPA was sent to the lead in the Grade 2 Santa Maria and never looked back, widening at every call to win going away. LET FAITH ARISE was second to IOTAPA by just under two lengths in the Santa Maria and two starts back finished a neck behind SPELLBOUND in the La Canada. She is back to face her rivals and is the co-third choice on the morning line with SPELLBOUND at 4-1. The morning line second choice is FIFTYSHADESOFHAY, who was scratched from the Santa Maria on the morning of the race. While talented, her last win came five starts back at Prairie Meadows. She is also winless in her last five starts in California. Expect her to duel with IOTAPA early. MISS SERENDIPITY may be the right one to bet at a price. She ran well in her U.S. debut back in January then was fourth in a Grade 2 on the turf behind three excellent turf mares. Third start off the layoff could be the most profitable.
