Race 1: The track profile is speed, but this race has plenty thus giving top billing to BLUEGRASS REWARD, the 5-2 morning line second choice. The morning line favorite is MUCHOS BESOS, who should be sitting behind the speed of CARAMURU, PRIME ISSUE and WE HAVE LIFT OFF. Perhaps it's best to spread in the pick-5 wager.
Race 2: The last time REDRESSTHEBALANCE went sprint to route, she won, and that is what she is doing on Sunday in this one mile turf test for fillies and mares. FANTASIC MIZZ is the horse to beat while ZIPPING MY WAY and LE FASCINATOR are the pace.
Race 3: VINDICATED RULER looks like a good bet to score in race three, dropping well down in claiming price. Her run two back would be good enough for the win. QUEEN OF THE HILL and SECOND TIME are others to consider on larger tickets.
Race 4: STORMY LUCY was finally able to get a So Cal win in the Grade 2 Santa Ana last month and now is the deserved 2-1 morning line favorite for the feature Santa Barbara Handicap. MISS SERENDIPITY and CHANGETHECHANNEL are the two pace players and could get brave if left untested at this 10-furlong distance. CUSTOMER BASE is the late threat, FLORAL ROMANCE will improve off her seventh place finish in the Santa Ana, which was her first start outside of New York and Tampa.
Race 5: CAT BURGLAR and GOVENOR CHARLIE are a pair of Bob Baffert-trained colts that have talent on their best day and are likely to be the first and second choice in the betting. If you want a big score in the pick-5; however, leave them off the ticket and roll with the speed of BIG KICK and the late run of OMEGA STAR. On his best day, OILISBLACKGOLD has the figured to win, but this is his first start since July 2013 and he is one-for-seven at Santa Anita.
