SOUTHLAND preview - Greyhounds to watch
Welcome to another Southland monthly preview of the Five Up & Coming Young Greyhounds To Watch. January's selections consist of several hard running youngsters that have started their careers with impressive wins and strong finishes. The only requirement that I use in selecting the 5 up and coming young greyhounds to watch each month is that they have had no more then 10 official starts prior to being selected. Please check back as every two months or so I will give updates on the progress of our selections. Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
CHALLINNJURR - 0 starts - 0-0-0-0 - Two schooling races, two wins. A rail runner who so far has shown good early speed and a late stretch rush, let's make him one to watch as he gets his career started. Next race - Race 3 - Grade M - 583 yards - 1 box - Monday, December 28
CRAIGIE CROSSFIRE - 2 starts - 2-0-0-0 - With a big rush to the turn and a strong closing move, this young runner showed promise right from the start by running 1st, 2nd and 3rd in three schooling efforts and following those up with 2 straight wins in his official starts. Next race - Race 9 - Grade C - 583 yards - 6 box - Wednesday, December 30
CROOK - 6 starts - 1-3-1-1 - This has been a very consistent young runner as evidenced by having finished in top four in each of his 6 races so far in his early career. He gets out quick and has a solid run to the turn which has put him in great position to challenge for a money finish. Has a mid-track running style but breaks well enough to be a threat from any box. Next race - Race 4 - Grade D - 583 yards - 1 box - Monday, December 28
CTW UNION BOSS - 2 starts - 2-0-0-0 - Talk about an impressive young greyhound, look no further then this one. He schooled twice, winning both races easily and then won his first two official starts including a huge 11 length win. He's got good early speed, a big rush to the turn and can also kick it in high gear down the stretch. The future is bright indeed for this one. Next race - Race 5 - Grade C - 583 yards - 1 box - Monday, December 28
MEMPHIS - 4 starts - 1-1-1-0 - He's another young runner who won both of his schooling races and then won his first official outing and after moving up to Grade D he's added a 2nd and 3rd place finish. A rail runner with lots of early speed, look for him to be among the frontrunners in most of his races.
