SOUTHLAND Preview - Sunday matinee, December 21

December 21st, 2014

Welcome to another Sunday matinee of exciting greyhound racing at Southland. There are four races which in going thru the program got my attention as good wagering opportunities so they will be my choices for today. I've listed them below and I hope we are all able to put some extra cash in our pockets during this busy holiday season. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.

Race 1 - In this Grade M race over the 583 yard course, I'm going with the (5) BA JOE COOL despite his effort last time out in which finished 5th. That was his first official start and I believe he will run much better in this race as he did show 3 wins in 3 schooling contests before last time out. He has a good rush so I look for him to hit the lid and be among the frontrunners at the turn and find running room on the inside as he does have a rail running style.

Race 6 - In this Grade A contest over the 583 yard course my choice for the key is the (6) DARK N DEMURE. She's a wide runner who is more than capable of getting an early lead and holding on. With 19 top four finishes in 28 races which includes 7 wins, she has the consistency and the smarts to get out fast and find running room for her wide running style. Don't overlook her here as she may very well surprise you.

Race 9 - Here we have a Grade AA race over the 583 yard course and the pick is the always a threat to win (7) FLYING TITANIUM. I look for him to get back on the winning track after having encountered trouble in his past two outings. Sure to be one of the top contenders for a spot on the 2015 All American Greyhound team, he has 49 top four finishes in 56 starts this season which includes 33 wins. He's already been in two stakes competitions at Southland and has a 2nd and 6th place after making the finals in both of them.

Race 16 - This is the MoneyMaker pick of the matinee, it comes in a Grade B contest over the 583 yard course and the choice is the (5) PJ DIPLOMATIC. Odds should be decent for him and on occasions he can go early so in this race I like him to break fast and clean and find running room on the rail in which to position himself in a good spot to battle for the win.

Good luck to everyone..
