SOUTHLAND Preview - Sunday matinee, February 1
Welcome to another Sunday matinee of greyhound racing at Southland Park. On tap this afternoon are 18 races for your viewing and wagering entertainment. MoneyMaker Mike has selected several contests on today's program that stand out as solid betting opportunities. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.
Race 6 - In this Grade M contest over the 660 yard course, I am going with the (7) TJ'S VOIDWALKER as the key. Last time out was her first time going this distance and she ran a good race coming away with a solid 3rd place effort. I look for her to have a decent break and be among the frontrunners early. I don't think she fades this time and therefore will use her as the key.
Race 10 - A very competitive field for this Grade AA contest in the 10th race but the one to beat is the hard running and extremely talented (3) COUNSELOR. This young greyhound runs with the best of them and will be able to close down the leaders in the stretch in time to get the win. With 17 wins already in 30 races, he's the read deal. I will use him in quinielas and in trifecta plays with the 1/2/4.
Race 13 - Here is another Grade AA race and it's over the 660 yard course. I'm going with the very impressive young pup the (6) FLYING YAHOO. He was one of our 5 up and coming greyhounds that we posted about recently and he's done just about everything right since stepping on the Southland track late last year. He has had 13 official starts in his short career and in those races, he's got 6 wins and 5 second place finishes including 3 wins and 2 second place efforts in his last six races over this distance while steadily moving up in grade.
Race 17 - This is the MoneyMaker pick of the day, a Grade AA contest over the 583 yard course and the play is the (8) IN MY MEMORY. I realize it's a tough field for him but I'm impressed with his hard running and good finishes of late. Since December, he's moved up from Grade D to Grade AA in just 9 races which has included 5 wins, a second, a third and a fourth place finish. In two of his wins lately, he's had the eight box just like he has here. Granted, this is only his second time in a Grade AA contest but since he's been giving 110% I'll give him a shot here. I will the 8 with the 4/5/6 in quinielas and tri's and I'll cover with the 5 to beat the 8 in the superfecta should he tend to fade down the stretch.
Good luck to everyone and thanks for reading.
