SOUTHLAND Preview - Thursday twilight, March 5
Welcome to another program of 18 exciting and entertaining races at Southland for Thursday. There are several contests that drew my attention for a closer look and I've come up with some good opportunities for making money and I've listed those choices below. Take notice that these all are Grade AA races and even our MoneyMaker pick is a Grade A contest. I have had people ask me to have a program of top grade picks so here they are. Race 7 - Grade AA - 583 yards - A tough field of solid top grade greyhounds in this race and I like the (6) CROWN & CREST as the key. With 13 wins in 37 races in his career so far, and with two of those wins coming in his last six races in this top grade at Southland, he gets the nod here. He's the real deal and I look for his strong early speed to put him in front as they clear the first turn and then he should hold off the challengers. I'll play the (6) with the 1/3/5 in the quinielas and trifectas as well as playing the (6)-all-8-all & 6-all-all-8 in the dime superfecta.
Race 10 - Grade AA - 583 yards - Here is another very competitive top grade race and I'm giving the edge to the (4) CBJ KITKAT in a close one. He's been running very hard and very consistent lately with a win and four second place finishes in his last six starts so with a big rush to the turn I believe he gets a running lane in which to challenge for the win down the stretch. I'll play the (4) in quinielas with the 2/5/6/7 and a dime superfecta with 4-all-all-8 and all-4-all-8.
Race 13 - Grade AA - 660 yards - Staying with the top grade races I like the (1) KIOWA JARED in this distance race. The one box may not be the best draw for him here but with his strong early speed I look for him to hit the lid running and be in good position around the turn in which to make his bid for the win. I will play the (1) with the 2/3/6 in the quinielas and then play the dime superfecta with the 1-all-5-all, 1-all-all-5, all-1-5-all & all-1-all-5.
Race 17 - Grade AA - 583 yards - Completing our top grade plays for the evening I'm going with the very talented young greyhound (3) CHASMO'S DIESEL who so far in his very young career has 13 top four finishes in 15 races which includes an incredible 10 wins and two second place efforts. This is only his second start since being off the track since December and I look for him to get back to his winning ways here. Tons of talent and the firepower to back it up, even against this competitive field, I like him to win. I will play the (3) with the 1/6/7 in quinielas and tri's and also play the 3-all-8-all & and 3-all-all-8 in the dime superfecta.
The MoneyMaker pick of the evening is in Race 1, a Grade A contest over the 583 yard course and the choice is the KL'S ELLIOT. I like his chances here because he's a wide runner with good early speed and is dropping back to A grade after being in AA grade for several races. He has won both a Grade AA and a Grade A race in two of his last six starts and he may be overlooked here and give a good return on your investment should he win.
