How to bet the 2025 Unreachable Star Handicap

October 24th, 2025

An overflow cast of 13 sophomores bred in the Hoosier State will travel 1 1/16 miles on the Horseshoe Indianapolis main surface in Saturday’s $125,000 Unreachable Star S. I’ll give top billing to the Greg Foley-trained #6 Mackadoo (9-2) with Mitchell Murrill in the saddle.

$.50-cent superfecta 6,9 with 6,9 with 1,10 with all ($18)

Unreachable Star Handicap Analysis

Harry’s Holiday colt has really come into his own this campaign and rides in on a current three-race win streak, all of which came on the lawn. The bay is likely better on the green, but in his last showing on the main surface, the top pick ran an even fifth in the Governors’ H. while trying to overcome the widest post in the field. He possesses a good measure of tactical speed, which is a major thing in this particular spot, as many of the main players in the contest prefer to make one run from well off the early tempo. I expect him to get the jump turning for home en route to picking up his first stakes trophy.

#9 Sir Bahjy (3-1) is arguably the most consistent runner in the field and is a must-use against this group. One of two in the tilt for conditioner Genaro Garcia, the three-year-old gelding has been very good in 2025 and had a nice prep for Saturday when a narrow runner-up in the stakes ranks here most recently. He is difficult for me to back on top with confidence due to his running style and post, but the bay will be used in all vertical plays, nonetheless. Marcelino Pedroza, Jr. will take the reins atop the talented sophomore.

#1 Rapid Justice (7-2), one of a trio of runners that will tote 124 pounds in the feature, is in good form and gets an advantageous rail draw, too. The deep closing son of Lantana Mob will be able to save ground throughout the event and put in his strong late burst with Gabe Saez in the irons.

Garcia’s #10 Slam Dunk Justice (8-1) has proven to be a solid one-turn performer and gets an exotics look on this occasion. The Harry’s Holiday gelding has good current form and wouldn’t be a total surprise in the heat with Santo Sanjur in the irons.
