J. Keeler Johnson shares horses to bet in Super High 5 and Pick 6 carryovers on Saturday at Ellis Park and Colonial Downs.
Ellis Park: Race 3: $5,309 Super High 5 carryover (1:48 p.m. ET)
There’s a $5,309 carryover up for grabs in the $1 Super High 5 at Ellis Park.
Assuming Race 3 goes off with its full seven-horse field, it’s the race in which bettors will have a chance to chase the carryover.
Race 3 is a $50,000 starter allowance for three-year-old fillies sprinting seven furlongs over the main track. The fastest entrant from a Brisnet Speed rating standpoint is #4 Balaclava (9-5), and she looks tough to beat.
Balaclava debuted in a six-furlong $50,000 maiden claimer at Churchill Downs, in which she rallied late to prevail by a neck. Then she stepped up in class for a seven-furlong Churchill allowance and finished a respectable fourth, beaten only 3 1/2 lengths. The third-place finisher, French Blue, returned to win her next start against allowance company at Ellis Park.
Balaclava’s allowance effort earned an 88 Brisnet Speed rating, the highest number belonging to any filly entered in Race 3. Dropping down in class should make her formidable, so we recommend keying Balaclava on top in the Super High 5.

Colonial Downs: Race 5: $5,515 Pick 6 carryover (2:33 p.m. ET)
The Saturday card at Colonial Downs features four stakes and a $5,515 carryover in the 50-cent “Old Dominion 6” Pick 6.
The first stakes in the sequence is Race 6, the $125,000 Miss Disco S. for three-year-old fillies sprinting seven furlongs on dirt. Some bettors may feel inclined to single #4 Just Philtored (7-5), a three-time stakes winner who defeated #1 Slewperstitus (8-5) on four occasions last year.
But Just Philtored is 0-for-2 this year, and the Brisnet Speed ratings she’s earned (81 and 82) are lower than the best numbers she posted last year. In contrast, Slewperstitus has stepped forward nicely this season. She exits a triumph in a 5 1/2-furlong $62,500 allowance optional claimer at Laurel Park, in which she defeated a next-out winner while earning a career-best 92 Brisnet Speed rating.
Slewperstitus finished close to Just Philtored on a couple of occasions last year. In the Keswick S. at Colonial Downs, she fell only a neck short of victory. Slewperstitus appears poised to turn the tables on Just Philtored in their first meeting of 2026, so we recommend singling Slewperstitus in the Pick 6.
Another viable single can be found in Race 8, the $125,000 Glenn Petty S. for fillies and mares dashing 5 1/2 furlongs over the inner turf course. #3 Noquestionaboutit (6-5) is the clear favorite in a six-horse field, and her credentials are solid.
For starters, Noquestionaboutit won the 2025 Glenn Petty in fine fashion, pressing the pace before taking over to triumph by 1 1/2 lengths with an 82 Brisnet Speed rating. For another, she kicked off 2026 with a solid third-place finish in a $40,000 allowance optional claimer sprinting 5 1/2 furlongs over the Laurel Park turf course. She was beaten only 2 1/4 lengths while earning an 83 Brisnet Speed rating.
The Glenn Petty is restricted to Virginia-bred/Virginia-sired horses. Dropping back into the restricted ranks should make Noquestionaboutit tough to beat for hot trainer Michael Trombetta, a 25% winner at Colonial Downs this meet. Noquestionaboutit recently breezed a bullet half-mile in :48 2/5 and should have every chance to move forward in her second start of the season, cementing her status as a logical single candidate.
Good luck!
