Presque Isle Downs Selections and Analysis for Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025

Dick Powell analyzes the Tuesday program at Presque Isle Downs and offers his selections.
Race 1
1st: (2) PARTY AT THE BEACH – showed speed before flattening out two starts in a row, then was a good third going six furlongs. He stretches back out to two turns against this claiming level for John Fennessey – 11% with his claimers.
2nd: (6) HERONEANDONLY – tired badly on the turf at Saratoga against much better company, then came back here and just missed. He drops a notch in price and gets in light again with Brooke Bays.
3rd: (3) DIVER – just missed in his PID debut two starts back, then graduated as the 19-10 favorite going long.
Race 2
1st: (2) LADY VINTAGE – tries Tapeta after beginning her career with three starts on the turf at Delaware Park, where the daughter of Kitten’s Joy showed good speed the last two starts. Mike Stidham wins 19% with his maiden claimers.
2nd: (1) MIGHTY HEARTLESS – first-time starter from Aldana Spieth, who is 1-for-9 with debut runners. Daughter of Higher Power does not have much pedigree for this, but she comes in here off a bullet five-furlong workout.
3rd: (5) COLLECTED – turf sprinter tries Tapeta for the first time.
Race 3
1st: (3) KITTEN’S WAR – won three straight two-turn starts here against similar company, then was an even fourth against open allowance foes. She drops back down to the bottom claimers for Kevin Rice.
2nd: (5) CRYSTAL WATER – was a good second from post 8 on the turf at Mountaineer Park, then came back here and was an even third against one level better. Victor Severino wins 14% going long.
3rd: (2) UPPITY UP – horse for the course was an even third last out in fast time.
Race 4
1st: (2) MOHTAFIL – took him nine tries to break his maiden, then he came back to beat similar company. He was an even third as the 11-10 favorite, then rallied for second for the Rojases.
2nd: (4) STREAMSONG – dropped down to this claiming level and was stuck for three starts when he rallied for third each time. He came back to rally strongly to get up in time for Mike Pappada, who wins 24% first start after a win.
3rd: (7) VAST HORIZONS – was a. good second going five furlongs on a sloppy track and now stretches out to two turns.
Race 5
1st: (5) INMATE – rallied from way back to get second in his career debut here, then just missed in a long sprint. He stretches out to two turns for Ron Potts, who wins 18% going long off two sprints.
2nd: (7) MADAGASCAR – first-time starter from Miguel Clement, who wins 15% with his debut runners and 18% when they debut against this maiden level. Son of Twirling Candy (16% debut winners) is out of a dam by Speightstown.
3rd: (2) FREESTATE – was a decent third in a turf sprint at Saratoga, then showed speed for a half-mile in his PID debut.
Race 6
1st: (4) MAYNARD – was an even third in his PID debut going this distance in fast time, then rallied from off the pace to just miss at long odds when moved way up in class. Ralph Baez wins 32% with his overall claimers.
2nd: (5) STARSHIP EMPIRE – horse for the course has 12 firsts and 12 seconds here, including a good win last out going 1 1/4 miles. Ron Potts wins 22% with his synthetic-track starters and 18% first start after a win.
3rd: (6) THE BEST DISTANCE – went gate to wire against this claiming level two starts back.
Race 7
1st: (1) RIDING A DREAM – took a liking to PID with three sprint wins in fast times, then held on for fourth when moved up to this allowance level. Juan Arriagada wins 29% on synthetic tracks and is 5-for-9 with Gaddiel Martinez.
2nd: (7) PUTTHEBLAMEONME – ran well on the turf at Tampa Bay Downs this winter, then was off for eight months before coming here and rallying for third in a long sprint in fast time.
3rd: (3) PANCHO SLIPS AWAY – broke his maiden here going this distance in blazing-fast time.
Race 8
1st: (4) BROOKLYN STYLES – was an even third in a turf sprint at Saratoga, then showed some speed there for a half-mile. He tries Tapeta for the first time and gets in light with Kingsley Taylor.
2nd: (5) SQUAD GOALS – just missed here in his well-bet career debut when he was shuffled back from post 1. Adam Rice wins 44% second time out and 25% with his synthetic-track starters.
3rd: (6) PEACH SMOOTHIE – was a distant second in his career debut on the dirt at Penn for Brandon Kulp.
