January 18th, 2026

The Sunday card at Tampa Bay Downs boasts a giant $80,016 carryover in the 50-cent Late Pick 5.

Tampa Bay Downs: Race 5: $80,016 Pick 5 carryover

The Late Pick 5 gets underway in Race 5 at approximately 2:30 p.m. ET. Let’s take a race-by-race look at the sequence and assemble a ticket costing $30:

Wager

  • 50-cent Pick 5: 1,4 with 4 with 1,8,9 with 4,8 with 5,6,7,8,10 ($30)

Race 5: $75,000 Allowance Optional Claiming (one mile on turf)

#4 Thankfulness (8-5) is a logical favorite after storming from 15 lengths back to win her debut in a one-mile maiden special weight at Tampa. But #1 Fitz Right (2-1), dropping in class off a sixth-place finish in the Chelsey Flower S. at Aqueduct, may steal the show for hot trainer Chad Brown.

Race 6: $32,000 Allowance Optional Claiming (one mile and 40 yards on dirt)

#4 Garamond (1-1) has been freshened since misfiring in a couple of stakes in June and July. He won his debut at Tampa Bay Downs and later nabbed a fast $100,000 allowance optional claimer racing one mile at Aqueduct, so on his best day Garamond is plenty good enough to beat this group.

Race 7: Maiden Special Weight (1 1/16 miles on turf)

First-time starters #1 Arizona Territory (3-1) and #8 Navigation (4-1) look like live contenders in this grass route for three-year-olds. But #9 Likeness (6-1), dropping in class out of the Central Park S., could spring a mild surprise for trainer Shug McGaughey, who has gone 14-for-58 (24%) in turf routes at Tampa since 2023.

Race 8: $12,500 Starter Optional Claiming (seven furlongs on dirt)

#4 Long Gone Sally (3-1) has dominated three starts in a row at Tampa and has every chance to nab another win. But don’t underestimate #8 Fullmoonmagic (5-1), who earned a sharp 87 Brisnet Speed rating when smashing a seven-furlong $5,000 claimer at Tampa by seven lengths.

Race 9: $16,000 Claiming (one mile on turf)

There are plenty of contenders in this large field. We’ll spread deep with #5 Cupid’s Dude (9-2), #6 Venik (10-1), #7 Power Attack (7-2), #8 Royal Luck (7-2), and #10 Bring Me a Check (3-1).

Good luck!
