Best Bets and Quick Picks

Horseshoe Indianapolis: Race 2: $30,000 Maiden Claiming (six furlongs on dirt, 2:41 p.m. ET)

#6 Deflected (7-5) is a first-time starter from the barn of William Walden. Since 2021, Walden has compiled a stellar 6-for-9 (67%) record debuting horses on dirt at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

Deflected enters off a long series of half-mile workouts that should have him fit for a competitive debut. Let’s key him on top of a large exacta using #4 The Exodus Twist (7-2) and #2 Poetic Words (2-1) for second place.

Selections

  • #6 Deflected (7-5)
  • #4 The Exodus Twist (7-2)
  • #2 Poetic Words (2-1)

Wagers

  • $20 Exacta: 6 with 2,4 ($40)

Will Rogers Downs: Race 8: Allowance (six furlongs on dirt, 5:29 p.m. ET)

#7 Big Kitty (9-2) is half a length away from being unbeaten in four starts at Will Rogers Downs this year. Last time out, he trounced a six-furlong allowance for Oklahoma-breds by three lengths.

Big Kitty is sticking to a similar class level on Tuesday and should be tough to catch under apprentice jockey Ronnie Huckaby, who rides with a five-pound weight allowance.

Let’s place a win bet on the four-year-old gelding.

Selections

  • #7 Big Kitty (9-2)
  • #5 Mi Saturday (3-1)
  • #3 Paynt Ball (5-1)

Wagers

  • $30 to win on #7 Big Kitty

Turf Paradise: Race 5: $30,000 Maiden Optional Claiming (4 1/2 furlongs on dirt, 6:09 p.m. ET)

#2 Jumponthistrack (4-1) is an unraced three-year-old trained by Jon Zimmerman, who has gone 2-for-6 (33%) saddling first-time starters in recent years. Fast workouts at Turf Paradise (including a bullet three furlongs from the starting gate in :34 2/5) suggest Jumponthistrack has a shot to win on debut in this 4 1/2-furlong dash.

At 4-1, Jumponthistrack is worthy of a win bet.

Selections

  • #2 Jumponthistrack (4-1)
  • #8 Whiskeywithatwist (8-5)
  • #4 Page (8-1)

Wagers

  • $30 to win on #2 Jumponthistrack

Carryover Watch

Horseshoe Indianapolis: Race 6: $5,048 Super High 5 carryover (4:45 p.m. ET)

Racing resumes at Horseshoe Indianapolis on Tuesday with a $5,048 carryover up for grabs in the 10-cent “Grand High 5” Super High 5.

The prize pool is available to chase in Race 6, a $5,000 claimer. The 5 1/2-furlong dirt dash has drawn eight horses, and we’re confident #6 I Forgot to Ask (7-2) will deliver victory.

Wager

  • 10-cent Super High 5: 6 with 1,2,4,8 with 1,2,3,4,8 with 1,2,3,4,8 with 1,2,3,4,8 ($9.60)

I Forgot to Ask exits a sharp win in a $7,500 maiden claimer sprinting five furlongs on Tapeta at Turfway Park. He dashed to the lead, opened up a large advantage midrace, and held on to prevail by three-quarters of a length, earning a career-best 78 Brisnet Speed rating.

The par winning Brisnet Speed rating for Tuesday’s conditions is 76, so I Forgot to Ask is already fast enough to win a race like this. And if you’re concerned about his ability to reproduce that form while switching to dirt, never fear. Last fall, I Forgot to Ask ran second after dueling for the lead in a six-furlong $20,000 maiden claimer on dirt at Churchill Downs, earning a 74 Brisnet Speed rating.

Underneath, we’ll spread deep with several horses.

#8 Dirbas (9-2) and #1 American Wind (3-1) were separated by only half a length when finishing second and third in a $5,000 claimer over the Turfway Tapeta track last month. Both fit well at this class level, and Dirbas even ran third in a recent $7,500 claimer on dirt at Mahoning Valley, suggesting he has a strong chance to crack the top five on Tuesday.

#2 Reflex (5-1) is making his first start of 2026. Last fall, he ran third in a $15,000 claimer sprinting 5 1/2 furlongs at Horseshoe Indianapolis. A fast half-mile workout in :47 3/5 over this track on March 24 suggests Reflex will produce a competitive run in his return to action.

#3 Stay Frosty (8-1) has misfired in recent starts on Tapeta, but has shown flashes of ability on dirt and can’t be counted out of the mix for a top-five finish. #4 The Irish Ranter (6-1) shouldn’t be underestimated either; last time out, he wired a 4 1/2-furlong $4,000 claimer at Mountaineer with 77 Brisnet Speed rating.

Good luck!
