Woodbine Pick-3 Play for Saturday, Sept. 14

September 13th, 2024

A total of six graded-stakes races will be hosted by Woodbine on Saturday. The massive day of racing has lured some standout Thoroughbreds in what is sure to be a fantastic afternoon of action. I’ll take aim at an early Pick-3 sequence on the card consisting of a trio of tilts for the ladies.

Pick 3 Play

  • 1,12,13 with 7,8,10 with all

Race 5 – Natalma S. (G1)

The one-mile contest for two-year-old fillies attracted a full cast, and I will use a trio of runners to commence my play. #1 Annascaul (3-1) led at every call en route to a three-length waltz in a turf dash at Saratoga on debut and might be the real deal. The Christophe Clement pupil was heavily backed in that dash and while she only defeated New York-bred runners, the chestnut must be used with Frankie Dettori retaining the ride.

Conditioner Mark Casse has a whopping eight entered for the affair, and since Patrick Husbands landed on #12 Thread (20-1), so will I. The Twirling Candy filly has displayed a lot of ability in her two tries on the all-weather strip at Woodbine, and I like the move to the lawn. The filly is a full-sister to a Grade 3 winner on the green, and her price is too healthy to ignore.

The Charlie Appleby-trained #13 Mountain Breeze (5-2) has been runner-up in two Group races in succession and is an obvious threat despite the wide post. William Buick comes in to ride the daughter of Lope de Vega.

Race 6 – Ontario Matron S. (G3)

Fillies and mares will travel 1 1/16 miles on the main oval in the middle leg. #10 Sabatini (8-1) dons a 3-2-1-0 mark on the course and comes in fresh with some swift morning drills as of late. The Josie Carroll trainee will have to be good in facing her elders for the initial time, but I feel that she will be up to the task beneath John Velazquez.

#7 Sand and Sea (12-1) will make her local debut on Saturday and is an intriguing contender at a big number. The Liam’s Map six-year-old shows a 5-4-1-0 mark on the synthetic in her lifetime, and while this is a big class rise, I can’t omit her with Axel Concepcion coming in to ride.

#8 Fashionably Fab (4-1) loves the surface and has the right running style to be a prime player in the affair. The Silent Name four-year-old will get the jump on the deep closing types at the top of the lane under Kazushi Kimura.

Race 7 – E. P. Taylor S. (G1)

The finale attracted just six, but the quality of this field has surely made up for its quantity. Multiple Group 1 heroine #5 Blue Rose Cen (8-1) is the fifth choice on the morning line, and that says a lot about the class in the affair. I’ll use the "all" button to conclude my play.

Good Luck!
