Picks and Plays

Will Rogers Downs: Race 6: Cherokee Nation Classic Cup S. (one mile, 4:42 p.m. ET)

#4 Number One Dude (7-5) has been facing non-state-restricted allowance optional claiming competition at Oaklawn Park, earning sharp Brisnet Speed ratings of 88, 93, and 86. Heโ€™s gone 2-for-2 at Will Rogers Downs in the past, so returning to this track and tackling a stakes for Oklahoma-breds should set the stage for Number One Dude to deliver victory.

Adding to the appeal are Number One Dudeโ€™s hot connections. Heโ€™s making his first start for trainer Scott Young, a 27% winner at Will Rogers Downs this meet and a 20% winner with horses running for the first time under his care. The jockey is Leandro Goncalves, a 36% winner at Will Rogers Downs this meet.

#2 Cowboy Mischief (3-1) can complete the exacta after winning a 1 1/16-mile handicap at Will Rogers Downs with an 85 Brisnet Speed rating.

Selections

  • #4 Number One Dude (7-5)
  • #2 Cowboy Mischief (3-1)
  • #5 Tommyhawk (7-2)

Wagers

  • $15 to win on #4 Number One Dude
  • $15 Exacta: 4 with 2
    Total: $30

Will Rogers Downs: Race 9: More Than Even S. (one mile, 6:12 p.m. ET)

#5 Dicey (9-5) is the morning line favorite, but this late-running sprinter is stretching out over one mile, and thatโ€™s not necessarily a recipe for success in this largely paceless field.

Perhaps #6 Kachina (6-1) can spring a surprise. She boasts a nice 5-3-1-1 record at Will Rogers Downs and recently wired a one-mile allowance over this track. If she shakes loose under hot jockey Floyd Wethey Jr. (a 23% winner this meet), Kachina can take this field all the way on the front end.

Weโ€™ll use Dicey and #7 Gotta See Red (5-1) for exacta purposes.

Selections

  • #6 Kachina (6-1)
  • #7 Gotta See Red (5-1)
  • #5 Dicey (9-5)

Wagers

  • $20 to win on #6 Kachina
  • $5 Exacta: 6 with 5,7 ($10)
    Total: $30

Will Rogers Downs: Race 10: Maiden Special Weight (six furlongs, 6:42 p.m. ET)

#8 Elena Mae (5-1) showed some pace-tracking speed in her debut over this track and class level before fading to finish sixth. Trainer Scott Young (a 27% winner this meet) strikes at a decent 15% rate with second-time starters, and jockey Alfredo Triana Jr. (a 36% winner teaming up with Young over the last two months) is named to ride, so there are plenty of reasons to like Elena Mae.

This field hasnโ€™t come up very deep on paper, so Elena Mae wonโ€™t need much improvement to visit the winnerโ€™s circle. Weโ€™ll bet her to win and play her over logical favorite #7 Dodgeball (5-2) in the exacta.

Selections

  • #8 Elena Mae (5-1)
  • #7 Dodgeball (5-2)
  • #9 I Bileve (4-1)

Wagers

  • $20 to win on #8 Elena Mae
  • $10 Exacta: 8 with 7
    Total: $30

Good luck!
