How to bet Keeneland’s $23,820 Super High 5 carryover

October 25th, 2025

Saturday is closing day of the Keeneland fall meet. There are three stakes on the agenda, but the betting highlight is a $23,820 Super High 5 carryover.

The prize pool for the $1 wager is up for grabs in Race 10, a maiden special weight for juveniles racing 1 1/8 miles on turf. A huge field has turned out: 12 horses in the main body of the field, plus three on the also-eligible list.

Keeneland: Race 10: $23,820 Super High 5 carryover wager

  • $1 Super High 5: 6 with 1,12 with 1,3,11,12 with 1,3,4,11,12 with 1,3,4,5,8,11,12 ($72)

We’ll use the following horses on our ticket:

#1 Chambersville (7-2): This New York raider exits a rallying runner-up finish in a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight at Aqueduct. He was beaten only a nose while earning an 83 Brisnet Speed rating two points higher than the par winning number for Race 10’s conditions.

#3 Practical Joker (10-1): This Michael Stidham trainee earned a sharp 84 Brisnet Speed rating when running third in a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight at Colonial Downs last month. He finished only 1 1/4 lengths behind runner-up Behold the King, who returned to defeat Chambersville at Aqueduct in his next start. Practical Joker is adding blinkers (a 22% winning move for Stidham), so improvement is possible.

#4 Wargamer (6-1): Since 2023, trainer Brendan Walsh has gone 2-for-9 (22%) debuting juveniles in turf routes at Keeneland. Therefore, we have to consider Wargamer, a beautifully bred son of Wootton Bassett. Wargamer is a full-brother to Apples and Bananas, a stakes winner on turf who placed third in the Criterium International (G1).

#5 Happy Prince (15-1): This speedy longshot was beaten only 1 1/2 lengths when finishing a pacesetting fourth in a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight at Ellis Park. There’s hardly any pace entered in Race 10, so Happy Prince may shake loose on an uncontested lead and hang around for a top-five finish.

#6 Triton (10-1): Acquired for $525,000 back in March, this son of champion juvenile Uncle Mo debuted with a closing third-place finish (ahead of Chambersville) in a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight at Saratoga. He was beaten only half a length while gaining ground into a slow pace, so he has room to improve for trainer Danny Gargan, a 23% winner with second-time starters.

#8 Leverage (5-1): This Graham Motion trainee is adding blinkers (a 29% winning move for Motion) after finishing second in a one-mile maiden special weight over the Ellis Park grass course. He’ll be guided by John Velazquez, a 24% winner at Keeneland this meet.

#11 Surfer’s Joy (6-1): Another first-time starter from the Brendan Walsh barn, Surfer’s Joy is a son of champion and acclaimed grass sire Kitten’s Joy. He’ll be ridden by Flavien Prat, a 24% winner on turf this year.

#12 Epic Horsepower (9-2): After finishing second and third in his first two starts against maiden special weight company at Ellis Park and Kentucky Downs, Epic Horsepower is a logical choice to vie for a top-five finish at Keeneland.

We believe Triton has the most upside, so we’ll take a bold stand and key him on top.

Good luck!
