Turf Paradise: Race 2: $4,000 Claiming (6 1/2 furlongs, 3:08 p.m. ET)

There isn’t a crazy amount of speed entered in this low-level claiming sprint, which should suit #7 New Every Morning (8-5) just fine. Two starts back, he dueled for the early lead in a $6,250 claimer sprinting 5 1/2 furlongs at Los Alamitos before fighting on to finish second by 1 1/4 lengths.

New Every Morning is dropping in class for his first start under the care of trainer Justin Evans, the leading conditioner at Turf Paradise during the 2022-23 meet. This sounds like a recipe for victory, so we’ll bet New Every Morning to win and single him to start double and Pick 3 wagers.

#3 Facenda (5-2) has been cranking out fast workouts at Santa Anita, including a bullet three furlongs in :34 2/5 and a bullet half-mile from the starting gate in :47 3/5. He’s a son of Violence, who sires an excellent 18% winners from first-time starters, so Facenda should be tough to beat if he runs to his workouts.

We’ll single Facenda in our double and Pick 3 wagers and bet him to win for good measure.

#3 Howdoyalikemenow (8-5) exits a runner-up finish in a $5,000 claimer sprinting six furlongs over the Tapeta track at Golden Gate Fields. But the four-year-old gelding has been even sharper on dirt, compiling a 6-2-0-3 tally including a third-place finish in a $12,500 claimer at Fresno.

Howdoyalikemenow should relish switching back to dirt and dropping in class for a $4,500 claimer, so we’ll bet him to win and single him to conclude our double and Pick 3 wagers.
